On the 22nd of May is my graduate graduation. (The picture above is of my M.A. graduation.) Starting Friday, everyone should start addressing me as "Doctor." (Or at least for that day!)
For those of you who will be present to witness the hooding, here is some information about the day. First, a link to the University's official information about the ceremony (click here). That link will provide you with arrival time, parking information, and maps both to and of campus. Definitely plan on traffic between I-91 / Northampton and UMass.
After the ceremony, we will meet and take pictures in the refreshment tent, directly behind the Mullins Center. Usually there are small signs designating certain portions of the tent for different disciplines. Look for us either under "College of Arts and Sciences" or "Humanities," depending on how the tent is labeled.
Finally, if weather permits, we will have a picnic supper at Skinner State Park (click here for more information). I will add to this post the night before graduation to officially announce whether the picnic will take place.
And for those of you interested in trivia, here is an interesting article on the Williams College website about academic regalia.
Thank you for celebrating with me!
P.S. You can RSVP by leaving a comment to this post, below.

I wish we could be there to help you celebrate in person.
ReplyDeleteI SO wish we could celebrate in person with you, too! xoxo K
ReplyDeleteOh Lesha - we are so sorry! Your invitation arrived on Mon. and by then we had made plans to meet my brother & his wife at the lake on Fri. (they have the cottage next door) to work on some of the ravages from the winter (windstorm, red squirrel eating through walls to get into our cottage, plumbing problems, etc.). He is taking the day off and can't change his schedule (we tried) because they have a wedding to attend on Sat. At this point, we can't dump them!
ReplyDeleteAnd we are also sorry to learn that you are moving to Portland on June 1st(!!) because we had hoped to take you out to dinner in June to celebrate and have you over for a swim and a picnic later in July when Katie and all are there with us. Please let us know your address in Portland - we will want welcome you to your new home from afar when you arrive.
We will be with you in spirit on Friday!! Congratulations - we are enormously proud of you and happy for you - and safe trip west. Love to you and Jamie.
