10 Reasons We're Psyched about Portland

1. It's so green, in both the vegetation and eco-conscious senses.

2. My totally awesome colleagues, who are already friends.

3. Portlanders are allowed to raise chickens in their yards-- even in the center of the city!

4. There's a vibrant knitting, crafting, and DIY community in Portland (and I've already found a knitting group in our neighborhood).

5. We'll be living within walking distance of three parks, and one of them is a dog park.

6. My dad travels to Portland about four times a year.  (And plane tickets to Portland are relatively cheap.)

7. We'll be living in our own house.  (Jamie and Mieko are negotiating about who gets how much yard.)

8. Our CSA at Groundwork Organics.

9. Everyone is so friendly that even the people who hooked up our utilities welcomed us to Portland!

10. It's not too hot in the summer; in fact, we just sold our air conditioner!
